Our secret for decadently rich chocolate cake: Buttermilk. Moist and fluffy, this chocolate cake is perfect for any occasion, from birthdays to office parties, to any old Tuesday night.
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease two 8-inch cake pans.
Heat water, chocolate squares and butter together until melted and combined.
Mix with flour and sugar. Mix together eggs, vanilla and buttermilk in a separate bowl. Add to rest of ingredients and pour into two greased pans.
Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes.
Heat first three ingredients together.
Remove from heat. Blend in powdered sugar until smooth.
